About us
Established in 2024, Hydrafly was founded to apply specialist drone systems to high level exterior cleaning challenges.
Drone assisted cleaning provides a controlled and efficient solution for large scale industrial, commercial and energy infrastructure sites. Supporting clients across the UK, we deliver safety led services designed to reduce disruption and improve access to complex elevations.

Why choose us?
CAA approved Operational Safety Case (OSC)
We operate under our own OSC, which allows us to clean at greater heights of up to 100 metres. These enhanced permissions ensure full regulatory compliance and peace of mind on every project.
Independent Drone Cleaning Business
Unlike franchises or multi-service companies, we specialise solely in drone based exterior cleaning, delivered at competitive prices without compromising on quality.
Faster & More Cost Effective
With cleaning coverage of up to 400sqm per hour, our drone systems enable faster project completion and lower overall access related costs.
Trained, Insured & Experienced
Our team of certified drone pilots are fully insured, manufacturer trained and experienced in operating safely across a variety of complex environments.

Our cleaning services are tailored to meet the needs of a wide range of industries and environments:
Wind Energy
Commercial Buildings
Warehouses & Distribution Centres
Schools & Universities
Industrial Assets & Infrastructure
Healthcare Facilities
Solar PV Systems
Our Drone Technology
Our drone is designed for adaptability, allowing integration of both high pressure and soft wash modules. This enables efficient drone cleaning across a wide range of surfaces. The drones heavy lift capability is well suited to clean large warehouses, expansive façades and industrial sites with significant external surface areas.

Key Capabilities:
- Pressure washing up to 100 metres high
- 3500 psi / 28L per min high pressure system
- Easy-in pressure ramping for stable cleaning
- Adjustable radar distance control
- Hot water cleaning up to 140°C
- Switch between soft wash and high pressure modes.
Cleaning Applications
Cleaning agents are delivered through a precision injector built into the Hydra system and customised for each surface type. Our solutions are biodegradable, eco-friendly, and fully UK compliant, with specialist options available for tougher grime.
Where suitable, the process is completed with a purified reverse osmosis water rinse, removing residual contaminants and helping deliver a clean, residue free finish on compatible surfaces such as glass.

FAQs
- 01What is drone cleaning and how does it work?
Drone cleaning uses aerial drones fitted with high pressure or soft wash systems to clean roofs, windows, solar panels, cladding, and façades efficiently and safely, without scaffolding or lifts.
- 02What qualifications and licenses do you hold?
Our lead pilots hold the CAA GVC (General Visual Line of Sight Certificate) and are fully licensed to operate commercially in the UK. We are also manufacturer trained and hold a CAA-approved Operational Safety Case (OSC), allowing us to carry out advanced operations in complex environments.
- 03Are there any operational restrictions?
Our only limitations are weather related high winds, heavy rain, or solar interference. However, as a local North West-based team, we offer flexible scheduling and adapt to changing forecasts.
- 04Are you insured?
Yes, we are fully insured for both public liability and chemical-related operations. Proof of insurance can be provided upon request and is kept current in line with our equipment and operations.
- 05What surfaces can you clean?
We clean roofs, solar panels, windows, cladding, render, brick, and more. Cleaning methods are tailored for each surface soft wash or high-pressure, depending on condition and material.
- 06How much does drone cleaning cost?
Pricing is based on the size, duration, and complexity of the project. Following a site inspection, we provide a clear, itemised quote. As an independent specialist team, we can offer competitive rates without compromising on safety or quality.
- 07Do you offer aerial footage or inspection reports?
Yes. We provide optional HD drone footage for condition assessments or to document completed work.
- 08Can I set up regular drone cleaning visits?
Yes. We offer scheduled maintenance plans tailored to your building or site. Regular cleaning is often more cost effective, helps prevent buildup, and reduces the need for intensive cleans later on.
- 09Can drone cleaning be used on wind turbines?
Hydrafly operates a heavy lift drone platform engineered for complex high elevation industrial environments, including wind turbine structures. The system is capable of accessing turbine towers and elevated blade sections at heights of up to 100 metres, subject to site specific assessment and CAA authorisation. Suitability for cleaning is determined in line with manufacturer guidance and maintenance requirements.
- 10Do you provide drone exterior cleaning near me?
Hydrafly operates across the UK, with a strong presence in the North West including Liverpool, Manchester, Warrington and Wirral. If you are searching for industrial or commercial drone exterior cleaning near you, our team can assess your location and site requirements.
- 11Is drone cleaning effective for large scale buildings?
When used in suitable environments, drone assisted cleaning can be highly effective for warehouses, industrial buildings and elevated structures. Controlled application methods allow consistent surface treatment while improving access to complex areas.
- 12Do you need permission to fly drones for cleaning?
Yes, Hydrafly operates under a Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) approved Operational Safety Case (OSC). This allows us to conduct complex cleaning operations at height and in built up commercial environments safely and legally.
- 13Can you clean live warehouse or commercial sites without disruption?
Yes. Our systems are designed to operate with minimal impact on live industrial and warehouse environments. Each project is planned around site operations to maintain access, safety and continuity wherever possible.
- 14How much does drone exterior cleaning cost?
Costs vary depending on site size, surface type, access complexity and project scope. Drone assisted cleaning can often reduce overall access-related costs, particularly on large scale industrial sites. We provide tailored quotations following site assessment.
- 15Is drone assisted exterior cleaning safe?
Yes. Drone assisted exterior cleaning is carried out in accordance with UK aviation regulations (CAA) and supported by site specific risk assessments and method statements. Our controlled aerial systems reduce working at height exposure while maintaining strict operational safety standards.
- 16Is drone solar panel cleaning safe for panels installed at height?
Yes. Our drones are fitted with soft wash and high pressure systems calibrated for delicate surfaces. Combined with a biodegradable solar cleaning agent, we ensure pitched roof panels are cleaned thoroughly without causing scratches or damage.
